The Company

About KnotTheory.ai

Privacy-first, agentic tax software — built in California by an engineer with a public, verifiable track record in enterprise systems, AI research, and applied cryptography.

Founder

Gopal Anantharaman — Founder & CEO

Gopal Anantharaman founded KnotTheory.ai Inc. to build privacy-first, on-device AI systems — including the Tesseract line of tax-automation products, which run multimodal AI on the user's own hardware, and Tesseract Tax Cloud, the agentic tax platform for CPA firms.

His research spans graph neural network theory and applied cryptography: recent work includes a topological characterization of GNNs via stochastic block model embeddings on the n-sphere, and a camera-zoom optical cipher co-authored with post-quantum cryptographer Jintai Ding and published in the Computer Vision Conference (CVC) 2026 proceedings (Springer LNNS 1976). He is the sole inventor on pending patents in knot-automata compilation and optical satellite communication.

Previously, he spent two years at Intuit — the company behind TurboTax, the incumbent his products now compete with — and was Principal Architect at Plantronics/Poly, where he architected RPRM, the FIPS-compliant provisioning and management server for Polycom phones and UC endpoints (later Poly Clariti), and authored the Call Manager core shipped in Poly Hub and Lens, with granted patents in multi-device call management.

He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University (2004) and a B.E. in Mining Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy.
